Merchants’ Exchange Building Cornerstone Laid

 

On this day, the 22nd of February in 1832, the cornerstone to what would become the Merchants’ Exchange Building was laid. This monumental office building was designed by William Strickland and is an exquisite expression of the Greek Revival style, the first national American architectural style.
